Thanks Alton. It was a lot of fun sailing with the pros. I learnt a lot. I highly recommend that every windsurfer heads down there for the competition. When else do you get to hang out with some of the worlds best sailors. Keven Pritchard, Boujmaa Guilloul, Morgan Noireaux. At dinner one of the younger kids challenged Kevin to do a double loop during the competition and he delivered the next day.

The pros were very willing to give advice and tips.

With regards to the competition I finally got lucky with wave selection and caught a few big ones in the semi finals and finals of the amateur division, and was very surprised to get second.
One of my waves in the finals.

One of my jumps. The only jump I can do reliably, it gets almost as much points as a forward so I did one every heat. It needs more tweak to be proper in my opinion.

Ryan and Jen,
congratulations on doing so well and it looks like you both had a great time doing it.

I thought about going and probably could have if I had of planned things better, but early on I did think it would be possible. I really regret not going now and will really try to get down there next year for the competition. I'm coming down on Friday for a week or more but I guess you guys will be back by then. Once again great job and I'm glad you guys had such a good time!

Ryan/Jen:

Congratulations to you both! Well done! :D :D :D

Two shots below make the swell look Uber clean for the rock. Nice!

Surprised they would let your register for several categories Masters and Amateur. I don't think I have ever seen that before. Did they let you do that with one registration fee or did they charge you one fee for each category?

Thanks Michael. Just as well you did not go this time since there was only wind on Saturday and Sunday, nothing four days before and nothing after. We went for two weeks so got ten or eleven days total on the water. Looks like your timing is going to be perfect for your trip.

Thanks Dave, entry is $150 for one division and $200 for two, it's common that people enter multiple categories. It was a good idea to get more heat experience, by the time I got to the last heats I was relaxed. Very tense in the first few.

Thanks guys for all your kind words!

Competing was so much fun, the AWT is very welcoming for all levels and I also highly recommend planning vacation time for it. Especially to all you ladies out there :) it seems like every year there are more women coming which is super cool. There have been some top notch women sailors the past two years we've been, it is a lot of fun and inspiring to sail with them!

Also if you have kids that you want to entice to windsurf there is a youth fleet and those kids are super talented, (they might be more inspiring than just watching Mom/Dad sail!) They are throwing forwards and making catching waves look easy!
