One of the regulars said that he found out that Cypress has apparently sold about 35,000 passes this season. He didn't say how many passes they would typically sell in a year but I presume it would be significantly less. Cypress was promoting the season passes as a way for people to avoid buying a day ticket which would require making a reservation. I am certainly grateful that Cypress is not requiring people with season's passes to make a reservation to go skiing (like Grouse and Seymour) but the size of the crowds during the week (if there is powder or sunshine) has been something new - like a number of things in this COVID year.
From the few people I know who ski, many of them seem to have more flexible schedules during Covid because their work has shifted online. So they can work around skiing. All of them stated that their respective companies will adopt the online format even when Covid is over. Maybe midweek skiing will be changed forever.
