Been looking for a promising forecast, but unfortunately it doesn't look like any wind scheduled. Only there for a week. May try to bring some gear just in case. Surf forecast looks incredible with multiple days in the double overhead range. Should be fun!
Staying on the north shore, walking distance to all of the famous breaks.

I'd love to surf Pipe!!! Maybe? Looks like a drop in swell to 3 to 5 feet feet (canada 3 to 5 feet). Hawaiians say 3 to 5 feet but it is measured by the back side of the wave so it means 6 to 10 feet. I'd only paddle out if it were head high MAX! LOL.

I surfed Waimea before. That was a heart pounding experience.

Solid WNW swell. 18 foot faces on biggest sets today. Highlights of the day were. Coffee at Pipeline with my wife and 7 month old. Saw one dude get absolutely crushed. He exited the water and proceeded to dry heave the loudest I've ever heard someone dry heave. Must've swallowed a lot of water. Waimea Bay at 10 to see a lifeguard rescue. People out swimming without fins. The shore break was insane! Shrimp from the truck just past turtle bay. Back to pipe for couple of hours of surf watching, then to Waimea again, for more people tempting fate in the shore break. Awards ceremony for Duke 50th anniversary contest. JOB, Dusty Payne, Bruce Irons and many more there. Pretty cool.

Today was better. Didn't take any pics. Just watched. Glassy conditions. Pipeline and backdoor both firing. 15 to 20 foot on the big sets. Most waves were 2.5 times overhead. Supposed to be big on wednesday. Will take more pics then.
Aloha.

Well it's been a good few days. Beach bumming. Pina coladas. Coronas. Tuna. Marlin. Sun. Kona Coffee.
The eddie contest almost went today. 28 of the best big wave surfers would've battled it out at the amazing Waimea Bay. Unfortunately the surf wasn't big enough. It was extreme today for sure, but to hold the contest they require average set waves to be 35-40 feet. Today it was 25 to 30 with 4 or 5 stand out sets that were in the 40 foot maybe bigger range. I was one of the first ones at the parking lot at 5:30 am. Walking the beach under the starlight was spooky. I could hear the waves crashing, and I could tell there were parts of the beach that were getting washed out with the bigger waves. Once light arrived it was clear to see it was to be a special day. Biggest swell of the winter so far, and possibly of the past few years according to a few people. Saw some legends, pros, and fearless regular dudes and dude-ettes who lay it all on the line. The highlight of the day was the full close out sets that broke clean across the bay. Impossible to capture on film or put into words. All wave heights are wave face, not back side.
