Slingshot Hoverglide Replacement Foil Screws

Off Topic Comments, Help, Tips and Trick

Hello all,

I'm looking to replace my 2 year old Hoverglide Foil Screws (mast to fuselage connection).

Getting these from the US (Slingshot) brings rediculous shipping costs. The place I bought the foil from doesn't reply (maybe a signal and probably also high shipping costs). The "stock" screws are titanium which has some controversy. Mind you alot (not all) of my use is fresh water at Harrison Lake.

I've read A4-70(316 stainless) is the way to go? M8 X 50mm countersunk.

Assuming above is correct, is there a place local that these can be picked up and purchased?

Thanks!
Mike

First thing I would do is pick up the phone and give Bruce a call at Silent Sports.

I got A2-70 THE bolts from Pacific Fasteners after breaking a top plate bolt. I didn't hit anything, lucky not to lose anything. Not much metal holding your foil on.

Stevenson Marine in Kits got a huge stainless hardware restock in the fall, much of it is countersunk but Philips head. I had success finding what I needed there. SS's shipping prices for replacement bolts are absolutely insane. It's actually enough to make me consider moving to another brand once my current setup dies.

I have everything you need brand new. Send me a message if you want the titanium or 316 SS. Source of titanium is Slingshot and 316 is McMaster-Carr.

Edit - I just checked and only have 3 counter sunk A4 316 SS M8 x50. You can have them. You are not sprinkler company Mike? I live in Anmore. Let me know if interested. Will toss them in a bag and you can pick them up anytime. It might be too far for you.

Thanks all for the quick replies!

I've noted all the shops mentioned. Bruce was who I tried initially twice. Good guy for sure. The no reply makes me think there was a better way but he didn't want to say?

ZeroR2 - I'll send you a private message. You're actually the closest.
