If the west berth of the port ends up getting inundated with sediment without the spit, which especially given the port's statement in the article seems likely, the cost of any solution, whatever it is, will be in the millions of dollars.
This would be a good opportunity to advocate for fixing all problems at once by following the original plan for a berm off 3rd ave with windsports access on it. However, I worry that all decisions will be done without any consideration for us, as usual. Lots of work is needed to overcome that.

The spit gap is a few meters longer.
