How to keep on top of new updates on forum

Off Topic Comments, Help, Tips and Trick

General question for the (experienced) masses and my apologies if it has been discussed in another thread in the past...

Do you guys have any specific way of keeping notified of new posts to the site? I've heard of the app called Tapatalk (mostly on car forums) and wondered if there's something like that being used for keeping up-to-date on this forum. Is there an app or settings that you can used to be notified when there's a new post, or does everyone just glue themselves to the website and hit refresh on their browsers a lot?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff

Good questions.

Tapatalk is not enabled on this forum because I believe the majority of users will not use it. Even though it would be optional for the user, Tapatalk will show an annoying pop-up on mobile devices.

If you want email notifications on every new post, try this:
- click on User Control Panel
- click on Manage Subscriptions and pick all the forums

To view the most recent posts at the top, try this:
- click on User Control Panel
- click on Board Preferences
- click on Edit display options
- change "Display post order direction:" to Descending then click Submit

If the post times appear to be an hour off, try this:
- click on User Control Panel
- click on Board Preferences
- change "Summer Time/DST is in effect:" to Yes then click Submit

Crap - subscription lists appear to be empty. I'll need to investigate

Hi Alton,

Thanks for the post! I noticed the time-issue as well, but thought it was minor and just adjusted for the difference in my head. Will fix that in settings.

I've taken to just checking frequently and driving around will all my gear in the car....I should probably toss in a hanger or two for my suit & tie....

;)

Jeff.

No need for a hanger for suit and tie.

Just wear the all-in-one.
