Cypress Mountain 2022/ 2023

When it's absolutely too cold

Day 76 - Not fully recovered from my knee pain (... but good enough) so I went for a quickie ski session. Arrived an hour late so had to hunt down some untracked corduroy.

Soft spring conditions with mix of sun and cloud. Hardly anyone there. Lot 3A was still empty when I left.

Day 77 - Fun skiing a blue bird day in a gang of 4 (with Doug, Brian and Rob). Great to meet Richi and son in the parking lot.

Ok Boomer :? (is that still a thing?)

Actually, might be the ultimate all-mountain. Centered stance for most riding. Some setback for pow. Centered front binding on the chair lift for stressless uphilling. Hang 10 when you feel like it. And all on the same run!!!

And it'll be good for April 1

For those who don't like change, here's more, because I might try the Cypress Mountain Sno-Go bike.

Looks pretty tricky. I think I'll get more gratification from working on skiing fundamentals.

There have been many ideas initially considered silly. Most of these silly ideas faded away.

But many became mainstream. Examples include: snowboarding in general, "shaped" skis, fat pow skis, rocker, hybrid rocker, shorter lengths, dedicated snowboard boots instead of Sorels, etc.

Day 78 - Disappointed with the lack of pow ... only 5-10 cm of heavy fresh so made the best of it snowboarding

1 x Crazy Raven (first tracks ungroomed to the left with LeopardSkin)
3 x Coyote 7 (favorite of the day with 10 cm to the right)
1 x Slash
1 x Top Gun
1 x Olympic (second favorite)

Got tracked out quickly so left at 10:30
