Any crystal ball reading for surf/sup session?

When there's absolutely no wind

Weather has changed in the last 5 years. NW winds are getting downgraded and less frequent , that's why I moving from Ambleside to Wreck Beach to get Northern winds.
Does anybody know Acadia sessions per year?

There are some wind stats here under the "Wind" section.

I pulled together a slideshow of wind stats by year (2003-2015) for Jericho (a proxy for Acadia). Or you can view it as a gallery.

My own sailing log shows single digits:

  • 2002 - 2
  • 2003 - 1
  • 2004 - 4
  • 2005 - 1
  • 2006 - 4
  • 2007 - 1
  • 2008 - 1
  • 2009 - 0
  • 2010 - 3
  • 2011 - 5
  • 2012 - 2
  • 2013 - 6
  • 2014 - 2

Note 2004, 2011 and 2013 all show to be better than average years from both sources. :D ;)

The big westerlies at Acadia/Locarno in 2013 were the reason I bought my 3.7m (later that summer).

It has yet to be used :(

Thanks for the heads up Gabriel.
Indeed I am working on Saturday 3 days, so I'll try Tuesday, but I am still gonna watch for this Friday just in case something happens and I will have to go to kerrisdale for some family stuff regardless, so I cross my fingers and hope for the best ;-)
Hope to see somebody out there.

Cheers all.

It seems to be a 4/5-year cycle or some kind of cycle. Thanks Dave, great info. I haven't seen a strong NW since October ... Richi hasn't been praying hard enough, Tuesday NW forecast just vanished. Let's make it simple, when:

.Johnstone strait is more than 17 knots and
.Halibut bank more than 0.6m and
.tide is less than 14ft.

you'll get surf at Wreck Beach.
