No need to hope. It will be a gorgeous weekend. Enjoy ...

Drying out with moderate westerlies tomorrow. Stronger westerlies Sunday. Heating up with winds more confined to the western Gorge Monday.

A drying and warming trend begins tomorrow as an upper ridge begins to build and forces the Gulf of Alaska upper low to weaken and lose influence on the region. Meanwhile, the North Pacific High builds enough off the Coast to boost westerly gradients. Cloud coverage will reduced and moderate westerlies pull back to the Corridor with low to maybe mid 20's peaks. Sunday looks to be windiest for the western and central Gorge as temperatures heat up for the deserts and skies become sunny. However, look for morning stratus from Portland to Astoria. This helps set up a more "classic" day as westerlies build solidly for the Corridor, Stevenson, and maybe for Doug's. Winds for the East ease a bit as the heat starts to build. Meanwhile, at the coast the northerlies build, especially for the South Coast. On Monday, the upper ridge strengthens further and slides a bit to the east. The deserts heat up further and the morning marine stratus for the Lower Columbia and Portland will likely start out less expansive and burns off more quickly. Look for solid westerlies again, but more limited to Jones Beach, Stevenson and the Corridor.

Clouds begin to thin as the Gorge dries out. Jones Beach reaching WNW upper teens, Stevenson reaching some low 20's, the Corridor reaching low to maybe mid 20's, and the Near East and East also reaching low to maybe mid 20's. The North and Central Coast see sub teen W to WSW winds and the South Coast reaches mid teen NW winds.

Becoming sunny and warmer. Morning stratus from Astoria to Portland slowly burns off and helps a healthy thermal boost get going. Look for Jones Beach to reach WNW near 20's late, Stevenson reaching some mid 20's, the Corridor building quickly with midday through mid afternoon mid 20's to maybe even upper 20's. The Near East reaching maybe mid 20's. The East, though, eases a bit with near to faint low 20's peaks. The North Coast reaching mid teens peaks, except for near 20's at Manzanita, the Central Coast reaching NW near 20's, and the South Coast reaching NNW low to mid 20's.

Mon, Jun 30 2014

Sunny and hotter. Quicker burn off of the morning stratus. Jones Beach reaching WNW near to low 20's, Stevenson reaching low to maybe mid 20's, the Corridor reaching spotty mid 20's. The Near East reaching around 20. The East only reaching mid teens peaks. The North Coast reaching NW near 20's, the Central Coast reaching near to low 20's, and the South Coast reaching mid 20's.
