Chinook Carbon Boom Warranty

Sailworks confirmed Chinook going to warranty my detonated boom...

I understand Chinook has a no questions asked 1 year carbon boom warranty, but I could not find the link to the Chinook warranty page on their website.

Sailworks said they are getting a new Chinook delivery on May 16... so my boom will be there.

I'm never buying Chinook again, their booms explode and their mast extentions have this protruding clip that destroys boards when in waves. Their customer service just ignores any emails.

Sailworks has been great though, they always deliver.

That's good news, a carbon boom shouldn't break within a year, well sailing at Squamish anyways. You must have been throwing down forwards in the river chop again.

Did you try the Goya Skinny? That's a great boom, the only thing that needs improvement are the clips that adjust the tail piece. They might be better now, mine is a few years old.

I have a Goya aluminium skinny boom. It's made by the same company that OEMs the Chinook aluminium skinny. Other than the logos & colour, my Chinook looks identical to my Goya. The tail pieces from one fits the body of the other.

No not yet, I've only sailed Chinook and Streamlined Carbon booms. I've broken both a few times.

I've broken many Chinook aluminium booms, that's why I switched to Carbon, I have broken fewer of these.

Every two years, I buy a new aluminium boom, new harness lines, new universal joint.

Throwing forwards lol, it is on my to do list... but in my early 60s, not so sure lol. I was fully powered and committed in a power jibe and then a big gust pulled me over, I expected a hard catapult but the boom detonated, so it was a soft landing. Yeah me!!!

Hopefully this warrantied boom is a good build. Quality at Chinook slipped during Covid according to info I found in a forum thread.
