Solution for Seized Cam Rollers

Hi Folks,

I wanted to share a solution with you for seized cam rollers. CLR works well at loosing and removing corrosion from cam roller pins. If you are like me and sail Sailworks sails with cams (Flyers, NX etc), no matter how diligent you are at cleaning your cam rollers they always end up with corroded pins and seized rollers. I found a few minutes soaking the cam in CLR (shaking it as well) and my very seized rollers loosened up and came back to life. You just need to soak the end of the cam so the rollers are submerged, not the entire cam. I suspect it works because CLR dissolves the salts, sand, and of course rust on the pins. Disc lamer: while I have had success please use this solution at your own risk. Hope you find this useful and interested to hear your results.

Cheers

I sail no cams! :) But maybe one day I will buy a Flyer sail, did not know they had cams. Sailworks should come up with a better design... more innovation opportunities exist.
