Tarifa report

Windsurfing shop talk

After a work trip to Paris, Tarifa seemed to be the only place within a two hour flight with a decent forecast.
Wind guru was dead on, the Levante has blown exactly as predicted (multiply by 1.5 for the east wind) for two days. First day I was on 4.2 and 80 l wave board. Second day 5.4 and 100 freestyle. The water is beautifully clear, around 18 degrees. Quite choppy though, not many good ramps for jumping, and not many flat spots for freestyle. Still lots of fun to be sailing. There are supposed to be better waves further down the coast.
Rented gear from Spinout windsurfing, great gear, 2014 full range of Tabou and Gaastra.

We rented from Spinout when we were there a couple years ago. There's an amazing cafe behind their shop if you're still there Ryan. Waves are at spots closer to Cadiz. How did you like the Pocket Wave 80L?

The pocket wave (three fin thruster setup) was great, really easy to do tight, fast turns.
For me the 85 (85 kg weight) felt easier to sail than the 80, with no real decrease in performance.

I ate at the cafe everyday. Good food and beer, and reasonably cheap for Europe.

Now that is good use of a 'commuter flight'! Sounds like an awesome adventure Ryan! 8-) All except for the Gaastra sails (kidding)! :D ;)
