Squamish soon?

Starting to watch for Squamish winds. Some sun forecasted through the weekend, but not so sure about the strength of the inflows yet.

I'm watching closely, and thinking that Sat/Sun have potential for a session in the river. Last March Alton and I scored a good early-season session with similar weather. The challenge is that the window is shorter and the wind less predicatable, more like late Sept than summer.

I would bet on Sunday more than Saturday. EC is predicting 15 Vancouver and only 13 in whistler on Saturday. Sunday looks like a better temp difference.

I might try tomorrow. According to a Squamish local kiter, it could be good. If the wind looks like it's climbing up over 20knots steady, I'll send it.

It seems like a 50/50 speculative situation. I've looked at Alton's temperature grid, the Howe Sound Marine forecast and GFS. Ironically, Thursday and Friday are favoured by GFS and inflow marine forecasts, but show more cloud. Saturday is not favoured by GFS & the marine forecast but show clear skies. Friday seems somewhat an "inbetween" day but who knows at this time of year.

hmm, i'm hoping to go to SQ soon too. maybe i'll make the trip up this weekend on sunday and if not enough wind, i'll take Jessie for a hike.

Francis and I scored our first 2014 Squamish session. Streaky SW 12-18 in the river. Francis worked his 5.6 Hucker/90L Mistral Syncro and I on my 5.2/93L. Enjoyed an hour catching rides from 3pm to 4pm.

Later Matt and James were ripping it up on 9m and 14m kites.
