It looks like wind has arrived at boundry bay, too late to make it worth the drive now, and looks like it has a lot of south in it. I will save myself for tomorrow morning.

Useless bay on Whidbey Island turned to be anything but. Beautiful location, great launch from a big sand section that would work for anything other than a winter high. Great local group, very friendly.

Sailed from 1:30 till dark with about 10 other kiters. Everyone started out on big kites, with the warning that this place can quickly go nuclear. I was well powered on my 13.5, then it dropped off around 2:45. Came back at 3:00, then quickly ramped, finished the last hour and a half on my 7m. Some decent waves developed. Great time

Jeff - that's awesome. Useless bay used to be a popular windsurfing spot back in the day. I'd love to check it out one day.

Greats shots Jeff! The waves get sweet there in high wind conditions too. Checkout this rental link right on the beach http://www.vrbo.com/464839 Awesome place for a family getaway or a weekend boys trip.

Cheers,

Chris

Totally agree about the waves, unfortunately the wife left before the 7m second half of the day. The waves were right off the sandbar in front, super fun.

Renting with another couple ended up a fun, cheap weekend, will definitely do it again. Especially after scoping the beaches further North Ebey has my interest peaked for when the surf & wind is coming down the straight.

On Monday, despite no wind forecast anywhere, it was South Easterly at least 20Kts between Deception Pass state park and Burlington!?!?! A crying 6 week old prevented a proper investigation.

Thanks for the forecasting help btw Chris.
