Centennial SW = Side off with a limp to the windline. Big smooth swell when you get out to it.

Better off at WRB, PR or the Ferry Terminal if it stays SW.

Well that was awesome today at WR. Got out at 7:30 on an 8. Gusts must have been up to 35. Strapless riding for the first hour was a challenge until the waves decided to carry my board all the way inside. Then another hour and a half on a strapped surfboard with some fun wedgey ramps in the middle and some big lined up rights on the outside. Almost everyone was there with 20+ kites and many windsurfers. Still blowing when we left at 10.

Got home in time to watch the NFC championship with my daughter. Go Seahawks!

That was a blast, never seen that many kites here. Waves were very fun. Got 4 hours on 7m kite split between the space pickle and my twin tip. Going to sleep good tonight... :D

It was a full house at White Rock this morning. Started windsurfing with Dave/C36 from 8:30-10am way overpowered on 4.7/93L in strong but gusty SSW 20-30. Typical tight SW waves at White Rock. Fun clean wave rides going east towards the US border. Heading west was exhausting with closely spaced sharp ramps. Good windsurfer turnout including Dave/C36, Mike, Michael, Darrell, AJ, Ryan, Tony ...

From 10:30am-noon, just when I thought the wind eased off (thought wrong), switched to my 10m kite+surf board. Wind quickly came back even more gusty hitting 35. Waterstarts were super challenging with overpowered 10m yanking me around and waves and break pushing me directly onshore - 7m would have been more civilized. Once I got going it was manageable. Over 20+ kiters (too many to name) made it pretty crowded but still fun.

Thanks for posting the photos Tony.

Well that was pretty decent. A balmy 9 deg. C but I still feel that I'm officially re-acclimatized to our Vancouver winter sailing.

Good turn out and even better to catch up with the attending folks.

Fun and really glad I went. Nice to start the year off with a White Rock session!

Waves were far more predictable than the wind. The wind was really gusty - like walking between rooms - one room you would be getting rolled off your board by the pitching waves and white water in the light wind and the next room the sail would be rattle out of your hands. Clay mentioned he found it really mentally challenging (always something to watch for). It was a bit of one-two punch kinda day. Kept you on your toes (if your were lucky).

Thanks for the pics Dave and Tony. :D
Like Dave said it was a gusty day! The 80L was a blast at first then the gusts got to much and I struggled to get it to go without getting my arms ripped off or in one case a bone crunching catapult. Ended up going up to the 110L when the wind dropped off and stayed on that the rest of the day. It was hard to handle in the gusts but the pay off was being able to get up towards the pier to ride the big swell. Lost my gear once up there and had to body surf 4 waves to get it back. :o Completely exhausted by the end of the day. :D
Great to see everyone out today, especial Mike, welcome back!
This graph shows how it felt on the water!
