Hey Guys,

All the forecasts are calling for 6-8 hours of gale force west winds through the east entrance of Juan de Fuca beginning around midnight.

It usually takes 3-4 hours for the wind at Sheringham Point to push through to JWSP. Sheringham just switched to West at 10pm and is light. I'd guess that the wind is about 3 hours behind the forecast.

The delay should translate to about 3-4 hours of 25-35 knot westerly winds and big waves at JWSP starting from first light tomorrow morning before it starts to die. If anyone goes plan on leaving EARLY after checking the actuals and forecast. The water conditions should be sweet with the wind blowing all night.

4:15am wakeup + border lineup + drive 2 hours + rig in the dark + 3 hours of big waves, wind, current & shore pound + drive 2 hours + border lineup = No wonder Whidbey isn't popular :D

Still hanging on to SE direction at 1am at Smith Island. The 35 knot westerly light switch is about to get flicked :D

Race Rocks is cranking directly upwind from Smith Island. Sheringham is blowing 30 knots and building as well. With a little luck JWSP should fire up around 3am and hold solid until the late morning.

Still south on Whidbey. Big numbers out to the west but Race Rocks and Sheringham are just slightly off on direction to get the wind to push down to Whidbey. Hopefully the south component at a Race Rocks and Sheringham disappears and it fills in to JWSP soon!

The gale warning has been extended until noon and the wind just switched at 7am :D JWSP and Smith are both solid Westerly 20-30 knots and building. There's still 30+ knots of wind way to the west at Sheringham Point.

Looks like a pretty sweet score for the kiters and windsurfers who are there first thing. Should be a good 3+ hour wave session with the WSW direction. Hope it lasts until noon. The metar taf is very marginal for Ault field...........we'll see what happens.

New TAF shows West 20-30mph until 12noon and West 15-25mph until dark. All forecasts, models and actuals are in agreement now. However, the wind will be lightening slightly throughout the day. If you aren't down there already I wouldn't commit to the trip........too late now.

It looks like Whidbey will have four solid days of wind in a row with Saturday and Sunday's forecast shaping up nicely :D
