I just realized TJ's Loop uses RASP.

Also clicking on "Southwest BC HRDPS" shows Comox and Columbia Beach

TJ's and the RASP don't have much correlation for today though so it seems odd they are based on the same model.

I've never put much faith in TJ's for bbay, but I do trust it for Locust (and I use the zoomed in one [ http://home.comcast.net/~wxtofly/loopal ... NW&grid=w2 ]not the one linked on wtf)

Also Chuck, when you say TJ's is showing wind all day are you talking about the 9-12 knots it's showing? I wouldn't consider anything below the 12-15 knots on TJ's and even then it's not until the 15-18 knots that I really consider it sailable.

15-18 on every TJ's screen (yes, I zoo. In on the Blanchard setting)through 8pm tonight? That seems wind enough for a 14 m kite for me, especially when guys were reporting solid 6m conditions within this past hour...

You must be talking about Locust then but your first comment was implying that it was about bbay.

TJ's for Locust today looks better than bbay but still not that hot, the launch is going to be heavily shadowed and you're going to have to get out in to the middle of the bay to pick up those 15 knot winds.

Well, "Slappy"' you are welcome to believe whatever you want to believe and interpret the various forecasts as you wish. ;)

All I know is I hit Locust for just under two hours of LIT kiting this morning/afternoon where it was solid 12m and was still windy once I left at 1pm :D

Crap - I was free today and missed a windy day at Locust *!!$### I'm flying blind with the Locust sensor down. The Bellingham airport sensor can read significantly lower than Locust. Perhaps because the airport is inland and/or the cliff at Locust blocks the wind from reaching the airport. Perhaps I should consider the Bellingham gusts. Kudos to you for scoring a 2 hour session.

So digging in to it a bit it seems that RASP is basically a secondary model used for paragliders that takes an input of a traditional weather model then outputs more localized higher resolution data.

So while both CanadaRASP and TJ's are using a RASP, they both use different input model data and that's why they don't seem to agree much.

Read all about RASP here: http://www.drjack.info/twiki/bin/view/R ... amOverview

CanadaRASP uses the HRDPS model as it's input: http://weather.gc.ca/grib/grib2_HRDPS_HR_e.html

TJ's uses the NOAA forecast as input.
