Thanks Adrien, it was great to get wet and get a session in.
I have found TJ'S forecast to be remarkably reliable so far, I've had some great Hunter Beach Sessions this summer and now that the fall weather (finally
) appears to be here it is invaluable for chasing the wind. Today was bang on with 14-18 with lulls down to 10 (or lower) so big kites were the call. I doubt it would have been windsurfable as you'd have needed Formula gear and even with the higher tide I had no problem standing almost everywhere. Great weed farming opportunities today, you had to keep the kite in the air (right, Rod?!)
But it does blow hard down there and I've been caught wishing I had brought my windsurfing gear in times past....as a matter of fact I think I'll start bringing it along, especially when the flying triangles start to appear (30+ wind speeds on TJ'S graph!). There is a bit of a hike from the car park to the beach at Locust but it is totally doable, especially if the conditions warrant. Think about the same from a far Doug's Beach parking spot, only with a few stairs thrown in.
To get the goods for windsurfing, apparently the spot to hit is the Marine Park just off Fairhaven:

I've passed the border where guys were using big kites 12-14 and arrived at Locust to, no shit, 25-30 knots. One dude was out on a 4.0 (windsurfing) when I arrived and I made some bad choices involving a 9m kite and a tightly clenched spincter
It was pretty onshore at Locust that day but apparently the Marine Park was dope. I'm actually really looking forward to some great windsurfing this fall, hope we get some good winds and I've been Dangling far too much as of late. Besides, we need to get Alton to get Looping...either sailing or kiting
