Early evening, I went out on 5.0. It got windy. Should've rigged 3.7 :?

Stopped at Nicola Lake on the way home from our road trip today. Scored a fun 6.0 session mid-afternoon. Got stronger when I was leaving at 5 pm (4.7 or 5.0) but I couldn’t stay any later.
Sailed from the windsurfer memorial. Great little beach to windsurf or wing from, but not enough room for kiters to launch. Nicola wind was gusty as usual, but the water conditions are great there: mostly smooth with small wind-waves (no chop!).

No reports from SB yesterday?

I should have gone for the early wind with good tide but didn't, things looked rather hectic after 2:00.

I noticed a lot of non-foil kiters sailing from Tolmie, curious why? Perhaps for the camaraderie with the wing foil crew? Perhaps for less travel to stay with the tide?

I had a great time on 10m at acadia 10am to 12:30pm. Walked up from dog beach and ended back at dog beach. There was a half hour lull at 10:30 or 11. Also about halfway out to the dolphin the wind was a bit weak, not sure how that could be. It was great closer to shore and further out. When I ended the wind was getting a bit too much for me. Otherwise great practice :)

The ridership was the most diverse I've ever seen at Locarno. Equal numbers of windsurfers, kiters, and wingers. Fin windsurfers, foil windsurfers. Twintip kiters, foil kiters, surfboard kiters. Even someone on an inflatable Duotone iRig windsurfing rig.

Hey Brian, nice to hear you got out there. The memorial is a great spot to launch. Gusty for sure but the waves are fun and the water is nice and warm!

Thanks Michael. I agree with you! The gusts at Nicola can be hard work but the water conditions and scenery make up for it. I try to sail there at least once per year (and I love the variety of windsurfing in lots of different places and conditions).
