Wind was up and down, waves were confused but it didn't rain and was a very pleasant day on the water.

Awesome photos Dave, thanks for taking the time!!

That was a fun day despite the messy wind and waves. Sailed 4.0/89ltr, felt pretty good most of the time:)

When I arrived people were watching Dmitry on his swim back after a broken mast, once he came back he rigged 4.2 and headed out again, that's dedication!

Put some gopro clips together too

Happy new years everyone, hopefully forecast holds up for Saturday:)

I think I finally figured out why I got worked when I switched from my 7m to AJ's 5m kite.

AJ's kite lines are much longer than mine. That explains why I got dragged on the beach when AJ launched me on his 5m.

Due to wind gradient / wind shear, the higher the kite flies, the stronger the wind. That's not what you want on a nuking day (SSE 35+). This explains why I got yarded off my strapless surfboard on a fast upstroke. To further exacerbate this, AJ's bar is much wider than what I normally use so the kite would whip up/down with the slightest bar movement. So when I was on the water I had to be super gentle with the bar to maintain control ... something I'm not accustomed to.

My understanding is:

1. In lighter wind, use a bigger kite with a wider bar and longer lines
2. In high wind, use a smaller kite with a narrow bar and shorter lines

AJ - there is a chance your Airush bar can be adjusted without buying a new one:

1. If possible, remove the 4 line extensions that make your lines that long
2. some kite bars like North allow you to collapse the ends to make it narrower

Maybe I'll see you at 3rd Avenue today so we can check it out

A few Go Pro shots that I thought Johnny and Gleb might like to see here.
