NW is offshore but silky smooth water normally enjoyed by twin tip kiters boosting.

I've heard some complaints by wingers about the weeds but that was for onshore (S) winds.

TAF is not suggesting it will last ...

No wind along Locarno by the time I arrived, but got a few prone surf foil rides in at wreck. Definitely need to get back when there's some decent swell. Could be a really good setup for foil surfing with a bit more power. Buoys were around 0.6@3s, but not much wind out there. Didn't check ferry terminal.

Stoked to confirm my suspicion that foiling should work fine in wind swell!

I'm using the Skywalker 5'10" 51L board, same I use for winging and the infinity 76 front wing with 70cm mast. The board seems pretty ideal for learning, helps a lot to have short board surfing experience for paddle position/pop-up technique. The infinity 76 is a pretty inefficient foil but good for learning. At 160lbs I'm not able to pump it, bigger foil and smaller board should work. Looking into slimmer, lighter and much more high aspect wings to be able to make this work better in wind swell. Maybe some of the larger axis foils or even biggest takuma kujira. The biggest issue with making new spots work is it needs to be breaking in water at least 4'deep and hopefully not rocky bottom. Seems like good windswell does that pretty frequently though. Wreck has a nice little sand bar that was perfect around 4m tide

Thanks Jonathan, you must have some skills winging on a 51L board, that must be super fun! I'm looking forward to getting a smaller board. You could almost foil surf today in Boundary Bay. Around 3:30 the waves started breaking just out from 3rd ave and I was riding then down to Centennial, you just needed a little extra power from the wing to keep going, super fun!

Honestly it's not too hard getting going in good wind once you get the sequence down. When you're up it's actually way easier to do everything after getting used to the increased front foot pressure, and jybing / riding waves gets much more efficient. They are making some really compact boards in the sub 100L range now, the lower swing weight on a short board is super helpful.

Nice you got some swell down there, thinking of heading out to Acadia or wreck again today
