FINALLY ... a day of steady wind. Super steady SW 18-20 on 12m+surfboard for 3 hrs. Fun in the sun with all the usual locals.

Alton,
Today’s SWS wind graph looked like crap, but the iWindsurf one you posted looks much steadier and a little stronger. From your description, it sounds like the iWindsurf graph is more accurate but does read a few knots high? It looks like SWS needs to do some spring maintenance on their wind meter.

Alton post graphs in MPH for some reason so if it’s reading a few anything high it would be miles or you thought it was knots and that’s why it’s high.

SWS wind sensor data comes from the port and is located on the roof.
SailFlow wind data comes from the port’s roof as well but is their own anemometer.

Edit: actually the SWS sensor on the can is probably active by now so it’s coming from the roof of the can. In the off season only the port version is active.

So as Nexen is no longer accessible, I'm gonna try and have a go at sailing at the spit on low tide today...So if anyone sees a newb Windsurfer out there...it's me.

If I don't struggle too much then I'll be buying an SWS membership and look to improve vastly:)

I'm not sure Nexen access will be gone for wsurfers/wingsurfers. I think it's just the beach that's closing, you can still launch off the point (but the kite launching area will be off limits).

Epic day at the Spit. Sandbars with butter smooth water and strong steady SW 20-24. Perfect for hero gybes on 9m+surfboard for 3 hrs ... until it got crowded late afternoon.

Yup, great day out of Nexen yesterday too. Low tide is great for launching there with windsurfing gear - foilers had a bit of a walk to deep water though.
Super fun ripping around the bay and up past the cliffs, a bit overpowered on my 6.0. Did the Spit-Darrell Bay-Nexen triangle for a wild downwinder back to the beach!

A fine opening day at the Spit. Early start at 10:30am on 9m+surfboard in SW 18. Awesome flat water and stronger wind (SW 22) for hero gybes in the afternoon. Called it a day at 2pm when the crowds arrived.
