Footstrap screws? WindSpirit?

Windsurfing shop talk

I've always had problems tightening my footstrap screws on my Fanatic, and the philips head is starting to wear out. Yesterday I learned what my problem is. My 2020 board has the m6 threads (K60 delta PT thermoplastic thread forming screw). However, it turns out that a small number of 2020 boards were shipped with m7 screws, which is the case for mine. Fanatic says I could drill out the holes/thread a bit but the better solution would be to just get some of the typical m6 screws. They're usually sold as "chinook cobra footstrap screws."

WindSpirit sells them but the shipping is $30. It's a long shot but does anyone know of a cheaper source (cheaper shipping) for these screws? Or, is anyone placing an order with WindSpirit that I can piggyback on to?
thanks

You might be able to get them at Pacific Fasteners in Burnaby? Or someone might have a spare set. Are your footstraps the single crew type?

Single screw type, but these screws are very specialized. Pacific Fastener has various thread cutting screws but these are different.

Try Rob Moulder - he may have them.
you're not the 1st person with a Fanatic Fin Screw problem.
Remember they had special screws way back in the day

I'm a little disappointed to not hear that fanatic isn't taking care of this for you. Especially on a 2020 board.

I just checked and found I have 8 M6 x 25 stainless Philips heads. They are yours if you want them as I have no immediate use for them

Try getting some Severne ones, they are a Hex drive so see much more durable.

I believe I also managed to find them in a Torx and I was thinking of buying a box to convert over all my boards.

I might set up an account with screwerk and order some torx K60 (that's what these m6 thread forming screws are) from them.

They'll ship via FedEx though, which will be like $50 though.

Thanks Adam. Are these machine screws or do they look like the picture below?

I believe they are a wood screw as the pitch looks a tiny bit smaller than the one in your picture. The same ones have been holding my footstraps and leash attachments on my wind/wing board no problem for a couple seasons now.
