Thanks for the picture. Now I know what to expect in the shuttle ride.

Probably won't get up to Squamish for a week or two. Still satisfied from 4 consecutive waves sessions this week (Bounday Bay, White Rock, Locarno/Spanish Banks and Upper Acadia).

I was out Saturday, first sail at Squamish this year. Crappy spring. Carried my windsurfer no problem on the inflatable, went on the front crosswise in front of the pilot.

I left my board fin off and had the board and mast in one package, and boom and sail as the other, Hawaiian carry style i think it is called. It helped to load quick.

I think I saw 6 or 7 kiteboarders on one Ferry load so there is decent capacity. During low tide the Ferry has more difficulty, and most had to walk back which Hawaiian carry would helps with for the windsurfers.

I don't think they used the Ferry in low tide because of the extensive sandbars on one side and river current on the other which will get stronger as the snow melts. Maybe they also need an ATV shuttle :D

Also imho sandbars seem to have grown more than usual over the winter? I wonder how things will change, will be interesting to observe over time.

I got lucky with a lift back on a jet ski but I don't expect that again next time...

High tides I think the Ferry will work very well and the worth is then invaluable.

Windsurfers can launch off the turn around in high tide . Maybe a little slog to the wind ,even in Low tide it possible.. Also the river current can take you out. There is a huge sand bar up river now. Even at a 3m tide, it possible to land there . I saw a windsurfer do it on low tide . There is a easy path access about 300 meters from the turn around. The sand bars are bigger . Let's hope for a hood river north.

Launch from the river on windsurf 4.8 and 86l. Good wind to open Squamish season. Light at the start and 23kn at max.
Hit submerged log in a middle of the river close to the end of spit. Saw it later at low tide. May be we should mark it.

Is there any concern with windsurfers returning to the turnaround - less wind trying to move against the current?

Its harder in lighter wind.
When it wasn't enough to plane in river. I decided to come back and had no issues.
Rayn and Jen came later a little struggle and slogging, but no issues. They launch even more up in river from sandy beach closer to gate.
Current wasn't strong yet. Plus you can walk up the river on the other side at shallow water. Also it was walkable at the end of the day, on removed spit road.

Shuttle doesn't work at low tide. Everyone suppose to walk back from island. They might bring you and gear on jet ski from river side, if really needed.

Stopped by the stub to check it out and thought about sailing after a mountain bike ride at Highlands + Alice Lake. Tide was at about 1.8 m when these pictures were taken.
