Hey everyone,

Starting up a club for us wind riders to gather our voices and ensure that newport beach development takes us into consideration. Plus some other goals for the club too. Please fill out this quick survey (only the first few Q's are required).

Awesome thanks! Yeah the main idea is to get as many people to join so we can show the developers how many people have a strong interest in using the area for wind sports.

Hi, I emailed someone from the current sailing club to open the conversation about including windsurfing in the new sailing center in the new waterfront park (to start construction as early as sept 2021). They are currently negotiating between BC sailing, the district and the developer. That's all I know. I think this is a great idea Johnathan to help boost the voice of windsports, it would be amazing to have a sailing center that is a community of all watersports (like Jericho), a windsurfing club out of a sailing center would be amazing to have people be able to learn, progress and expand our windsurfing community

SWS has always been involved in the Oceanfront project from day 1. One of the directors has submitted multiple design plans.

AGM Minutes Jan 2019. https://squamishwindsports.com/site/ass ... inutes.pdf

AGM minutes prior to this one also addresses this issue. Officially its called Newport Beach. https://www.newportbeachsquamish.ca/

When the survey is complete I would suggest a notification to SWS of the results. The board is comprised of Sqm residents.

A busy day at Nexan, the current development proposal won't be able to support this. The picture does not show it but pretty much all the parking was packed, including the kiter parking.

Didn't know that, thanks! Great, yes keeping up communication with the SWS is a good plan. I initially expressed interest in helping the SWS in respect to Newport communication/access last fall, but think the only focus was watershed at the time. Perhaps now is better without the immediate threat of spit demolition.
