new snowboard suggestions

When it's absolutely too cold

by Richi » Fri Nov 25, 2022 3:09 pm

Hey snowguys im looking to buy a newish snowboard to replace my old 2008 burton 156 custom. Soon after buying this all the hype about progressive rocker or banana rocker started, not sure if that's still the rage or has it gone back to traditional shapes What should I be looking for to ride cypress in all conditions, icy to powder. Thanks!

I have been riding lib tech for a few seasons now and find the magna traction is really good for the icy days on local hills.

I started on traditional camber. They're good.

Demoed rockered boards. They suck. Demoed flat boards. They suck.

When hybrid rocker boards came out a decade ago (rocker at the tip and tail, especially the tip, camber in between), I started riding them. Took a couple of days to get used to them. I'm all about hybrid rocker boards now. Easy to turn-in. Poppy like a cambered board. Everyone is on them. Park, freeride, all-mountain, pow, BX, slalom, etc. They're lovely. Get it.

Tons of gear on heavy black-friday discount. You'll want an "all-mountain."

I know few happy guys on Niche with magne traction.
I demo one as well and I really liked it, except price.

Right on guys, thanks for the input! Sounds like the hybrid rocker is still the way to go. Will look into this magna traction and hopefully find a new board soon. See you guys on the hill!
cheers, Rich
