At 1:20, this guy comes close to a heelside carving 360°.

I thought that the dire road reports would discourage a lot of skiers this morning after the storm, and I saw about 15 cars in the ditches off the #1 Highway between Coquitlam and Cypress. However, when I arrived at Cypress at 7:55 AM there were already so many cars that I ended up having to park close to the Olympic run. There was a huge line of people at the gate by the time they finally opened the Eagle Chair. When I got to the top of the Eagle Chair I decided to go straight to First Sun, then did Meteor and Olympic (twice). Had some fabulous turns in 30-40 CM of sweet snow - even had a couple of face shots. It was a treat to get fresh snow and sunshine at the same time. I wanted to go to the Lions Chair but at 11:15 AM it had still not opened, so I went home for lunch. Saw Tony, Alton, Rob, JS, Taylor and James at the hill.

Sunday morning.

Eagle Chair was running on diesel. Lions Chair closed. Sky Chair closed. Midway Chair closed.

It was one of those days.

Pic taken from the parking lot at 11:00 AM. You can see the bottom of the Raven Chair at a distance.

Previous pic zoomed in. Patrick says in the pic, the back of the line was at the junction of Three Bears and Crazy Raven. The other side of the lift line went up Benny's all the way to Black On Black.

Day 57 - One of my favorite snowboarding days. Knee high pow with the perfect density for my park board. Wait times were insane ... so was it worth it? ... Hell Ya!

Super fun riding down Jasey Jay and Ashleigh McIver then walked over to Raven Chair for a double serving of Olympic run.

Rob, Doug and Tony ... hate to rub it in but I will ... just as I was driving out at 11:30 I saw the Lions chair loading then immediately turned around for an afternoon session.

Scored 2 more epic runs dropping in Upper Rainbow to enjoy untracked snow on Midway.

Finished with a happy ending of poutine ... probably my longest day at Cypress in years.

Oddly enough, I think my ski carving drills helped my snowboarding today. Either angulation exercises strengthened my abductor muscles ... or switching from heavy skis and boots to a light snowboard made for some great mobility.

Day 58 - Good groomers for skiing with some ridges. Fun working on carving exercises until snow got a kinda sugary and tricky to grab my edges. Many of the usual suspects also attended.

Had some fabulous turns this morning at Cypress. About 40 CM of new snow. Multiple face shots on my favourite runs. Saw Skier Bob, Rob, Bill, Derek, JS, James and Taylor. Left at noon and Lions was still not open. Thought about waiting but my legs were a bit weary. No crowds.

Excellent conditions on the un-groomed runs today. Benny’s and Upper/Lower Coyote had lots of soft snow (tracked powder) covering fun little bumps. Good times & no lineups :)
