Cypress Mountain 2021/ 2022

When it's absolutely too cold

Day 17 - Fantastic morning with Brian C and Tony in lots of 10-15 cm fresh everywhere. Jerry and Benito were there too. Fun stalking Brian who picked the best lines. Ended the day riding down Tony's "super secret run" ... over 20 cm of untracked ... scored first tracks on skiers right.

Cypress OSR. Runs are refreshed with a combo of snowfall and double M. Yes, the snow guns are running. Fog is as thick as pea soup. Where did that expression come from? I've never had pea soup before. Aren't peas green?

Day 18 - Arrived 30 min late. Hunted around for fresh stashes but none to be found - not even Rainbow. Runs were soft though ... and didn't see Tony for a change :D

Out of desperation, I hiked up to the top of Raven chair and finally got 10-15 cm of fresh from the top, down Crazy Raven and finally down Tony's super secret run

Pow heavy like hell. Crossing tracks feels like hitting speed bumps.

Day 19 - Only 3 runs. Super heavy and super busy. 15cm of fresh down Maelle Ricker and Ashley McIver. Jerry and I poached Crazy Raven to score knee deep untracked runs ... but still heavy.

Day 20 - A chill day under blue sky to wind down the week. Hard pack with poor grooming and chunky snow. Untracked spots were crusty. Regardless, had fun riding with Mike and LeopardSkin, especially down Midway when wait times on Eagle and Lions chair got unbearable.

Day 21 - Hero groomer + sunny day with LeopardSkin, Jerry, Benito, Jens ... favourite runs were Jasey Jay and Humpty Dumpty for cranking grippy turns.

When I left at 10:45am cars were waiting for parking down past the snow tubing area

Day 23 - With yesterday's rain, I lowered my expectations to hard pack conditions ... and icy it was on the Eagle chair runs. Lucky to find soft hero conditions down Humpty Dumpty ... where I spend most of my runs.

Felt more like a windsurfing convention under sunny sky with Jerry, Doug, Bill, Brian C, LeopardSkin, James, Chris ...
