Cypress Mountain 2021/ 2022

When it's absolutely too cold

by Alton » Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:44 pm

Day 13 - Fun day at Cypress. It was more of a kitesurfer and windsurfer reunion with Jerry, Clay, Chris, Rob W, Roxstock, LeopardSkin, Doug, Bill, Patrick ...

Main runs were crappy hard pack probably due to thaw/freeze ... but going under the rope at Hutch and Jasey Jay made my day with lots of soft untracked runs :D

Day 1 - went mainly because I have a pass. Was surprised at the crowds but as a single line ups were not an issue (4 on a chair helps too, vs last year). I thought I may have seen you Alton or someone that looked like you. Didn't see anyone else. The crappy hard packed main runs were "ok" for me as it was day 1. Left when it was getting busy on the runs.

Day 14 - Main runs were way better groomers than yesterday.

Best of all - I ducked under the ropes and came down on Ashley McIver and Maelle Ricker ... defiled both of them with 10-15 cm of untracked pow!!!

Day 15 - A proper pow day (heavy though) with the usual suspects (Andrew, Jerry, Clay, Rob W, Bob, LeopardSkin, Doug ...).

10-15 cm under the ropes. Again I came down on Ashley McIver and Maeller Ricker and defiled them. Rainbow and 3 Bears (25 cm) were awesome.

Yup, best day so far this season for me, and Mokka picked a great one for her season kick-off. Rainbow powder and Humpty Dumpty were our runs-of-the-day! Even saw some blue sky, eventually.

More snow than I expected. 10 cm mini-fresh on the secret runs. 30 cm fresh on the super-secret runs. Come on up!

Day 16 - Late start this morning after my meetings. Enjoyed a sunny morning on very descent runs from Eagle and Lions Chair with Alan. Finished off riding down Tony's "super-secret run" with plenty of untracked 20 cm snow left. Not heavy like yesterday.

Had lots of great powder turns yesterday on some "secret" runs with my nephew Matthew who shot this YouTube video. There were still stashes of fresh snow left over from Monday. It was an unexpected treat to have sunshine since the forecast was predicting a cloudy day.
