Cypress Mountain 2020/ 2021

When it's absolutely too cold

Cypress is currently reporting on their website that they have had 18 CM in the past 24 hours. Had some great powder turns on the fat skis this morning but the line-ups got pretty long. Most of the regulars were there.

Day 31 - Rolled the dice between snowboarding or kitesurfing ... chose snowboarding. 10 to 15 cm of heavy pow good for 3 runs before tracked out. Visibility at higher elevations was crappy ... even got some vertigo on Jasey Jay. Favourites were lower Maelle Ricker and Coyote 7 (very bumpy but plenty of pow for cushioning the landings).

Great to see all the usual suspects this morning.

Great morning for fat skis in the trees! Had seven powder runs seeking various secret stashes away from the crowds. Saw some familiar faces (Rob etc) but the lineups were big so it helped to be skiing single. Was -1 and snowing when I left at 1130 am.
Way more fun than expected:)

Similar to Alton I had a choice to make and chose cypress. Started on raven chair for fresh tracks then headed over to moons for some awesome deep powder runs. Still lots of untouched snow when I left at 12:00. Happy with my decision to snowboard.

Day 32 - Super hero groomers this morning skiing with LeopardSkin (snowboarding). Wind Jammer still had plenty of untracked grippy corduroy when I skied out.

Day 33 - Good groomers this morning for skiing under sunny sky ... but not as hero as yesterday ... and none of the usual suspects.

Day 34 - Hero groomers under blue sky were enjoyed by most of the usual suspects. Wait times very civilized

Day 34 for me. Almost didn’t bother when I saw this morning’s dull skies, but glad I got my rear in gear. Excellent groomers in bright light with the good company of Tony and Mike. Saw a cameo appearance by Alton too.
Much better than expected.

Yes, good company today from Tony and you. Plus, it seems I stole Alton's lesson  it brought a bit of life into my otherwise (somewhat deliberate) shlog ski style.

Day 35 - Super hero groomers way better than expected. Snow softened rather quickly for fantastic grippy turns. Spent the morning skiing with Chris. Weekend crowds arrived a little later than usual so Chris and I timed moving to Crazy Raven perfectly ... squeezed in 8 runs in the first hour
