Can you ride at Boundary Bay on south winds? Looks very civilized tomorrow if it works. :D

South winds are tricky at Boundary Bay due to a big wind shadow. Conditions can be really nice once you get out in the bay but if it clocks at all SW the wind shuts down and you can have a long swim back. I find it spooky being way off shore, uncertain about getting back, but the waves can be really nice in S winds.

On low tide, you have plenty of room to walk away from the wind shadow. Like Brian said, it's tricky launching and landing and you don't want to drop your kite on those protruding logs. But if you're like me who shakes his butt when launching and landing to generate apparent wind -- then sure do it.

Launching on South wind is like launching at Nexen when it's light wind.

Try out this new page Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal Live if you plan on going to the Ferry Terminal today.

Tsawwassen Ferry Auto
Wed Oct 27 5:23 am
13°C
SSW 21 g 23
SSW 21 g 23 (10 minutes)

I'm in meetings today and tomorrow ... so best of luck.

I think I need a break. I got 6 sessions over the last 7 days - only took Friday off the water

Ben said Crescent beach is blowing but I’m unfamiliar with the location. How can it be blowing there but not at Centennial? Wind at the ferry terminal looks great but again, dunno about the wind direction. Where is everyone going today?

Which is likely to be a nicer ride today? Flat water anywhere? The link to the White Rock cam isn’t working. Going to get ready but no idea where to go. (avoid the temptation)

It updates every minute. The "10 minutes" reading is either 10 min ago or 10 min average ... I'm not exactly sure yet.

I would be interesting to see if it's more accurate (for Centennial / 3rd Avenue) than the iWindsurf / iKitesurf Boundary Bay sensor which is actually located at Ron's cottage in Point Roberts
