I ended up checking out the spit... the wind meter was in the red and I got super intimidated. hahaha, Plus my fin would be hitting the sand bank pretty much out to the tree..wasn't sure on my upwind ability so I went over to Nexen...which was super busy but fun. I got out on Friday and Saturday. Thanks again to all that make it such a friendly atmosphere!

I need a new fin as I had a few catapults from mine hitting the deck! And a bigger sail....

Just snuck in an evening session in the pouring rain. Awesome swell at nexen and just enough strength for a first session on my 3.5m wing that just arrived via UPS this afternoon. Wind was anywhere from what felt like 15 up to 30knts. A fair bit of debris in the water and a whole lotta rain on my face, but not too bad!

Early start in the morning on 9m+surfboard in SW 18g24. Called it quits at noon when it got super gusty. On the way home, the sensor started to tighten up so I returned to the Spit for another session at 3pm ... wet wetsuit ... yikes. The afternoon session after 3pm was much better. Fun cranking gybes on 9m+surfboard with toeside wavelet rides in SW 20-25.

I launched from Nexen on 5.0/95 l at about 145, in fairly gusty conditions. It took a while to work with the gusts, to make it up to the cliffs above the Spit. It paid off around 230 - 3 pm, with beautiful flat water and strong, steady wind in the bay just outside the river mouth. Lucky timing for some great hero gybes at the cliff face and a high-speed downwinder back to Nexen.
Porteau looked really good today too. I think I could have sailed 5.7 there when I drove by at about 1245, and there were still some foilers and wingers out when I passed by again at about 430.

Much steadier than the wind graph suggests. Strong SW 20-25 on 9m+surfboard with plenty of depower. Smooth water upwind of the river mouth. Early start at 11am getting crowded in the afternoon. Called it quits at 3pm.

Had low expectations today but pleasantly surprised how much fun today was. Other than a couple of lulls, the wind was much steadier than the wind graph depicts. SW 18-22 in the morning and SSE 25g30 in the afternoon ... at times overpowered on 9m+surfboard. Epic waist high swell in the river mouth. Smooth water upwind of the river. Small turn out with the usual boosters boosting big.

Over 3 hrs on 9m+surfboard. Well powered in SW 20-24 enough the ride down at Nexen and back into the butter smooth river which often felt uncomfortably crowded.

Gave Dmitri's windsurfer (4.6m / 86L) a go. Sadly the board was too small and narrow for my liking. The tail sank until I finally got planing in the river and hooked in. The remainder was very sad attempts to waterstart with a sinking tail which eventually ended up in the voodoo chop and a rescue ... very humbling after 7 years since I last windsurfed.

I haven't been up since the 13th, before the official season has started. Have they re-graded the road yet? The potholes have been nasty and I have been bottoming out our poor little car, is it worth taking my gas guzzling truck instead? Thanks,

Good to see you windsurfing! I was on 5.3/108, you were very under powered.
