A day of disappointment. Waited patiently for the 4pm Power Hour ... only to get 0.5 hr of riding gusts on 9m+surfboard.

I suspect Squamish and Vancouver got way too hot today - 30°C and 28°C

Jen and I had great sessions on big freestyle boards, Ryan 108/5.3 Jen 100/5.0. The river was nice and flat and empty. 10 knot lulls not a problem when on a floaty board.

We were camping at Hicks Lake the last few days. Stopped at Harrison on the way home and had a 6.0/110 session from Rivtow. Typical flat water and gusty conditions there but fun to sail in the 29C heatwave with a couple of friends. A good mix of windsurfers, various foil devices, and a few kites, all having a good “summer” day on the water.

Thursday Spit report.

Wind gauge hit orange and red. Way better than yesterday. River was smooth-ish. 105 litre/ 4.7 for me. Came in when I was tired.

Scored the 4pm Power Hour. Arrived late but too much west for my liking. Waited patiently until there was some consistent SW then darted upwind of the river on my 12m+surfboard to escape the river chop and find some smooth water. Fun hero gybes in relatively steady wind.

When I saw the river looking too glassy (ie. too much west), I darted back to land my kite while I still could ... excellent timing. Great way to end the week.

Damn right!

Dead on arrival. Witnessed 1 rescue and some kiters and wingers unsatisfied by the up and down conditiions. Undecided and about to leave but the shift from west to south encouraged me to score the 3pm Power Hour on 12m+surfboard.

Surprisingly steady S 16-18 confined me to mowing-the-lawn between the terminal and Spit.

SWS left before I did ... Great way to end the week!

Good for you for catching a session. I was there yesterday wind foiling on 3.7. One winger, one fin windsurf. Couple of kiters arrived as I left. Harrison is interesting for foiling. It can be up and down and sometimes "streaky" which does add to the interest (as long as it's mostly "on" - which it was yesterday). Thinking of giving it a go again this morning.
