Squamish 2021

Kitesurfing shop talk

Late afternoon around 4:00 or 5:00, the wind filled in and got steadier. About 25 knots. Was still choppy.

Today was undoubtedly the best day out of the entire last two days!

The SWS anemometer is not accurate. It showed steady-ish wind when it was gusty AF. The kiteboard anemometer showed grey gusting to red with a large variance in direction.

Sadly picked the worst time to head out on 8m+surfboard. Survival riding for 45 minutes in SW 10-30 ... what a workout ... then finally wrapped up upwind of Nexen when wind tanked and SWS rescue could still spot me.

Only came to Squamish to pick up a savageable 6m kite with no expections for wind. Pleasantly surprised at 2:30pm when SW 14-18 arrived. Alternating between 12m and 8m + surfboard was the call.

Best 3 hour session all week for me. The long wait was well worth it.

Good score! I went to Harrison taking the early (albeit light) inflow a as a good sign. However, when I arrived it was light outflow! The one thing that kept the couple of us waiting at the beach happy was that squamish was also failing :). Like squamish it did pick up around 2pm. Enough for me to have a nice 1 hour wind foil session on 6.8. then the wind faded and I left. Hopefully more sun than clouds in squamish on Saturday (looks sketchy to me at the moment).

Early start and solo session at 10:30 for Alton JR on 12m+TT in SW 10 gusting 11 with the river all to herself. When it ramped up to SW 13-15 it was my turn on the 12m+surfboard.

Switched to 8m+surfboard in the afternoon but wind was averaging SW 18-20 with big gusts and lulls. Called it quits when I had enough of the chop.

Good day to appreciate the Spit ... especially when hamburgers were free :D

What are the best bets for the Spit for today, Wed and Thurs? iGetwind indicates that Wednesday will be ok. I have a ton of stuff I need to do but would like to get another session or two in if possible.
thanks
