Never been to either. Not really a camper (or a drinker !) but prepared to consider the concept. (the camping anyway lol) Love flat water.
Insider info ? Worth the trip or stay the f*** home. lol

Has anyone been to the expanded Nitinat campground area? Are the sites provided with tables? Is there running/potable water anywhere?
Haven't been there in a couple of years but I've heard of significant changes..
cheers

You need booking for both Nitinat and China Creek.
Camping allowed only on dedicated spots at Nitinat, not like before. There were no tables on extended camps 2y ago. May be now, who knows.

China Creek shorter and better drive only 15min on gravel road, hot showers, Port Alberni for food etc. But wind was lighter than Nitinat. May be ok if you are kiting or foiling.

It looks like the earliest possible date to go to the island is July 1, it sounds like this date will be based on immunisation levels. This is from today's announcement. Edit: Maybe it's 15 June? Articles are conflicting.

My understanding is that right now is only essential travel to Island.
Even if I want to I will not be able to load on ferry.
Worst case if restrictions are not lifted I have to cancel both ferry and camping.
