Enoshima Japan today

In Japan visiting relatives for a few weeks and stopped by Enoshima near where I used to live in The Shonan area (Kugenuma Kaigan) in Kanagawa.
Rare wind direction and it was cranking with gusts over 30 knots and warm (24 C). Wish I still had my windsurfing gear at my local beach.

Looks great! In the video there is a guy way out there, must be a fun spot to sail. In November we went to Yuigahama Beach while we were in Kamakura. It's such a beautiful spot. There were a bunch of guys surfing, and I was thinking it would be an amazing place to sail. Have a great trip!

Thanks Michael. There's decent surfing all the way along the coast from Kamakura south to the Izu peninsula but there's always a lot of surfers in the water, even throughout the winter months so hard to catch and ride waves in the break zone on a windsurfer, kite, or foil. Imagine sailing the Rock in Souther Oregon with 200 surfers in water.
Enoshima is fairly protected so not many surfers unless it's really big (typhoon swell) and closing out everywhere else. On a good day, there can be 30 to 100 wind sports people out in the Spring and Fall. In the Summer months, much of the beach is restricted to swimming with a few narrow launch points for wind sports gear.
It's really nice to be back and hoping to get a day in the water but our schedule is pretty tight. We were in Australia (Sydney & Brisbane) for 10 days before Japan visiting some friends we used to work with up in Whistler back in the early 90s.
Got to Bondi Beach and a bit up North to the Noosa National park with some good swell rolling through. Only saw one winger way out on the outside at Noosa with overhead waves. I took a few pics and video and will add them when I get the chance.

There was a typhoon that passed by offshore over the weekend and there were good waves but no time to surf.

At Enoshima again today to meet friends and there are still some decent waves. I used to live 2kms down the beach on the right side of the picture.

Noosa is an amazing place. Spent a bit of time up there, but unfortunately, before I windsurfed or surfed.

At Enoshima again today to meet friends and there are still some decent waves. I used to live 2kms down the beach on the right side of the picture.

The swell in that picture looks epic!
