Windsurfing shop talk

Hi
Parking Lot is wind dependent - windy = busy
Weekends can be parked out for big Parties by the Locals.
I go early - I like to hang out at the Beach. I read or walk the Beach - way nicer before the wind comes up

Maui is a very special place, been sailing there since the days of the Maui Sails Tri-Panel, Hawaiian Island Windsurfing with Lenny was on Dairy Road (now Costco), Rob K- DaKine had just started making foot straps And a harness was barely a thing. Yikes. Used to rent from Naish more recently and sometimes catch a rockstar moment with Robby and have a RedBull. Doesnt look like they rent anymore? Anyways these days check these guys out for rental. Below. Personal choice of me and my gorge buddies.
Maui is country club sailing. One time they had red flags up at Kanaha (this goes back a long ways), the lifeguards warned us not to go out and my brother and I just laughed and said, you havent sailed at the Gorge, Have you? Couldn’t rent a 3.5 Lol. . [img][img][img][/img][/img][/img] https://pritchardwindsurfing.com/pw2020/gear :D

That’s incredible JohnyGalana, to sail with all the legends.

I’ve been binge watching all of the classic windsurfing movies from Maui on YouTube, it’ll be surreal to actually be there.

Thank you for the link to pritchardwindsurfing, I’ll try to book a lesson with them.

Cheers

Want some stoke? This is my all time favourite. Things change but do they? the way these guys were killing it in the late 80s! Unreal with the tech of the day. No twisty sails. Polyester, wide point forward, wide point back you name it. It’s all cycled in trends, but these guys ripped! https://youtu.be/RrQ1Wth0tvw?si=1mR0WsrGkDLbrFhM

Bonus points for spotting Bruce Peterson…..

Thank you all for the tips. It was absolutely surreal to sail at Kanaha Beach. I’m not sure if the wind there is always that good or if I just got lucky.
A few of my favourite pictures;

Nice! Whenever I ran into Robby over the years, it usually ended up being a good day!
