They are having a naming ceremony for nexan - hosted by the Squamish Arts Wind Festival. We should have as many windsurfers and wingers come out to Nexan to show them how important this beach is to all of us!

Sounds like there will be limited parking along the gallbraith road, show up before the wind to get a good spot to park and stay for the festivities!

I remember seeing the drawings for the planned Nexen development about 15 years ago at the annual general meeting of the Squamish Windsport Society. At the time the proposal showed parking near the beach area for a grand total of about 10 cars. That of course would have been a joke. However, the current depiction appears to show zero available parking spots. I guess you would be in luck if you bought a unit close to the beach, but otherwise it looks like there is little to no future for windsurfing or kiting at Squamish.
