Nexen is now called Sp’akw’us Feather Park.
The spit island is now called Pepahím̓.

Worst season ever. When do the playdates start?

Summer has arrived at Skwxwú7mesh.

Sp’akw’us Feather Park was nice today. Lush lawn. Sun. 15 to 20 knots. I used the biggest gear I own, which is 105 FSW board, 24 fin, 430 mast, 5.5 sail, and small boom.

Unfortunately kiting is now banned from Sp’akw’us Feather Park. Wing-ding and polesmurfing is still allowed.

Not my business to tell others how to behave but this is a pretty tasteless comment about a father and husband passed away kiteboarding. Better keep your opinion to yourself

I am not sure if this is your way of dealing with sad and stressful situations, but any comments I have seen you written about this incident sounds very insensitive, even though not intentional. (Please note I laugh even at my own dad’s funeral, but still can’t understand this tone!)

First trip up to Sp'akw'us Feather Park. Did walking tour. Landside facilities are impressive - orientation and sightlines, playground with canoe and drums, public art, grass rigging area and decent launching beach! Got the new user breifing from Ryan and Jen - thanks to both! Ryan was saying they had sailed the last 12 days in a row (even during the high heat). Rigged up and headed out. Interesting mix of wings, windsurfing foils, and windsurfing fins. Onshore wind with entry favoured from starboard (west end of the windsports beach). Light (lighter than before) on the inside. Wings bussing about pretending to be water ballerinas on the inside. Once out in the open water, same as before (gradually more wind the further you got toward the river and cliffs above the river). Suprized at how far out the river delta had pushed and how many stumps there were out there. Followed Ryan and Jen up to the first cliff and played there. Flat enough to practice carve 360s, but not as flat as inside the river on low tide. Fun way to spend a Friday afternoon and start the weekend early! Glad I made the trip up!

Thanks Dave for the detailed write up and photos. That's giving me the best sense of what it's like up there. I hope to go at least once this summer!
