Ski in the morning with Tony - nice groomed conditions.

Windsurf in the afternoon. First session since August due to elbow. Still some soreness but not the ideal conditions for the first day back. Took it as easy as I could on 3.4 in nuking conditions for 1/2 hour. Lots of energy left but did not want to push my luck. Good seeing John, Michael and Dave again.

As advertised ... epic session. Never thought I'd be overpowered on my 5m ... but it nuked SSE 35+ for the first half of the sunny afternoon. It was survival kiting for me but Francis looked nice and comfy on his 4m+surfboard.

After a quick break, the latter half of the afternoon (mainly sunny) was just right for my 5m+surfboard ... steady SSE 30+ over clean breaking waves with smooth sections. Called it quits when it got darker and disorganized.

Pretty busy kiter turn out at 3rd Avenue. I was surprised how many of them could hold down 7m kites.

Getting my bearings. Got the text that wind was ramping up - thanks Tsawwassen! Arrived at the peak of the wind to find Big John and Tsawwassen already out and Mike rigging. Chatter on the beach was it was "windy'! Big John was on 4.0 and he said, "That never happens!", with a heart warming grin! Rigged my smallest gear and took to the water just past the peak of the wind - thankfully the wind had backed a touch. Flat rig felt a little odd (twichy) underpowered so came in and gave it some some shaped (less outhaul) - that was better! First sail after a rib injury, so took it easy to feel things out - all was well! Just Tsawwassen and I, then joined by Gleb on his freestyle board!!! Ouch! Sorry Tsawwassen tweaked his foot and Gleb airyated his board ~ both still smiling though! Fun way to kick-start the weekend!

Thanks for the pictures Dave! What a day! Intense at first sailing with John in 40+ knots. Still went for a few jumps, one turned into a back loop as the wind just pushed me around. Was feeling out of shape and found it hard to get comfortable. My front strap was too tight so I loosened it but not enough. Back strap was too loose and that was a bad combo. Went for a jump near the end and my back foot came out and my front foot didn't. Landed flat and the board kept going. Can't walk today. A few gopro shots from up high up on the mast.
