I was pretty amazed the ice cleared out of the water so fast. Lauched off 4th Ave with several other windsurfers as Centenial parking lot was closed due to ice.

As others said, good wind/waves but COLD water. I was out a couple of weeks ago in 6 deg air and little issue with the hands. I forgot to eat my orange (to see if citrus keeps the hands warmer). Yesterday I ate the orange but it was no solution when your hands are in the water. I think the drysuit keeps the body warmer so the hands are warmer - can't say for sure the same for the orange :).

3.7 sail was overall a good call. I did notice a "lull" on iwindsurf which explains a couple of walks of shame. Could plane ok but I guess incoming tide, lightly powered and a few wave rides was enough to get me downwind. The wind did pick up and this was no longer an issue. Then it got near overpowered and called it a day. Good day but I was taking extra caution in this full on winter conditions.

Who was on the yellow Duotone kite yesterday?
There is a short video on Facebook one of the locals took of you boosting some nice air.

Also some crazy video of the shore break near the boat launch. How did you guys launch from down there? Looks intense!

The ice wasn't cleared out of the water, the waves simply pushed it all down to Beach Grove

Good session for me. 1.5 hours on the water. Had fun on the break just North of Centennial concession, with the wind having a lot of East in it the break and the side wind angle lined up very well for DTL style rides.

Went all the way down to Beach Grove to check out the slush in hopes of some slush rides but chickened out once I saw how much debris was mixed in on top of the fact that it was directly down wind so if I was unable to make it upwind in the slush I'd have to rescue and hike 3.5 km back.

Once back up at 3rd ave I was getting after the breakers close to shore but some of them were breaking directly on sand so I had to eject off a wave and it took my board right up the beach in to the logs. With 35 knots of wind and a 6.5m kite mixed in with chest high breakers tossing me around with logs everywhere I was not getting that board back so had to end the session there and go retrieve it on foot.
