Sweet morning wave session at 3rd Avenue from 6:15 to 9am on 9m+surfboard in SSE 18-20. Started solo until 7 kiters and about 5 windsurfers joined in. Fun chest high waves outside.

Yep, fun session launching off 3rd Ave. 9M kite & SB. I found the wind a bit up and down and this seemed to be associated with the wave size.

Of interest is that I saw multiple whale spouts. Verified on the beach later that there are whales in the Bay. Word on the beach also advised avoiding the "mist" (bad breath).

Nice start to the day, launched at boat ramp as Centennial not open when I arrived. Some good rides and some slogging. Saw the whale spouts too. Came off the water some time after 8:30AM when the wind backed off.

Had high hopes today, probably why I was let down  Should have gone winging but really wanted to get one last windsurfing session in before summer. The highlight though was seeing the whale. I blew my first jibe and while getting ready to water start I saw some small fish come jumping out of the water, usually a sign something bigger is around, sure enough as soon as I got up on my board the whale came up next to me about 20 meters away. I could see him looking right at me, super cool! I think it was a young grey whale as it wasn't too big. Mom was probably around though.

Now there's a story! Like the part with the small fish jumping out of the water. Next time think "Jaws" music.
