Sunday SSE to W

Big day out at Spanish Banks, crazy squall busted through and Sunday beach goers were running for their lives. After the squall conditions were pretty good, due to the high tide the waves were large gentle rollers with crumbling tops. Lots of wave power to surf but not steep enough to do many cuts. Got some of the best waves down by the off leash grassy dog area just beside the riprap wall.

About 10 min after I got off the water the winds kicked in to high gear again and it was pretty crazy on the beach. Glad to see everyone made it in okay as there were people out there on 10m kites when it was gusting to 40 knots.

White rock was a blast Sunday. Started off with usual gusty rainy, SE. Wind cleaned up as it switched W but backed off. Waves got real nice for a bit. Then it turned NW and cranked for an hour. I saw the squall coming and got off the water, 7 others were not no lucky and some had to eject their 9-10m. Rob was caught out on his 5m and was saying 60+ knots. It was sunny with the big black cloud which made it look really neat, could see the smoke on the water. Would have been more enjoyable to watch if we weren’t scared for our friends. Some folks got some shots, so I stole them for educational reasons.

At Kiwami point, it was bigger when it hit east beach. But here it’s almost a waterspout.

It felt a lot like like a fall a Rooster (Booster) Rock easterly.

Never been there but I've seen lots of photos and heard the stories from Trudy Lary about those crazy days at Rooster Rock! Looks intense!
