Still building here at Porteau. 5.5 windsurfing conditions now, with 4 windfoilers out too far to tell what they are on. One windsurf er ripping around (5.5 or 5.0) but I am done for the day.
This place is so special when it works like this.

Hey Brian, you said there were a few foilers out. I was under the impression that you can’t launch a kite there. We’re they winging?

He's referring to windsurf-foiling.

For clarification, there were three wing foilers out early, then several windsurf foilers out later. Indeed, no kite foilers-probably due to the sketchy barnacle/muscles all over the beach.
When I came in, another windaurfer went out on 6.0/Carve 99 and was having a great time.

Today was epic at Porteau. Started out with a 5.2 but couldnt pump it onto the foil. Rigged a 7.0 while seeing Brian launch. Wind was picking up. Did a couple of runs but was way overpowered. Came back in for the 5.2 and proceeded to rip around for a 2.5hr 51km session. Got to share the water with Brian, and then with Julia (windsurfing) and Rob and Torsten (windfoiling). Unbelievable day. I think the wind maxed at 3 pm. Super steady wind, warm water. Brian could correct me but I'm guessing it was 16-18kn, rock solid.

Glad you got to enjoy that perfect Porteau day too! Although the wind is rarely strong there, it makes up for it with its incredible steadiness, the chop-free wide open spaces, and drop-dead beauty.
I agree that the wind was about 17 +/- 1 knot most of the time, and probably peaked at about 20 knots.

I dislike my 6.0 and 6.5 in unsteady wind, but have a blast on them at Porteau.
