It is killing me that I haven't been able to try it out yet.

I think Rob is super busy - I also asked him to build me something but he is swamped with his projects.

if it works .... there will be a lot of 28 and other Roberts boards being dusted off!

Even if touchdowns are unpleasant i suspect the reduced swing weight will help you forget about it in a hurry. What do you think the volume is on it now?

yeah, I saw those pics of the super short board. My prediction last year was that the size of boards would shrink dramatically (for folks who can actually "do it"). Beginners still need training wheels.

No idea on volume, but I don't really care. I have been waterstarting my 110l Skate and prefer it. As long as I can get the sail out of of the water and upright, I can clamber aboard like a monkey! Light wind waterstarting is something I learned a long time ago and is a skill that translates easily to foiling!

I will post some feedback in about 10 days after I have given it a go!

I'm VERY curious about foiling the Skate. Currently using a 122 Kombat with the straps inboard and love the feel. I'm thinking maybe a 110-115L FSW or FS board might be a future "big" board size.
I find with the foil attached that uphauling is much easier for a given board size.

On the topic of conversions check out this old North race kiteboard, it looks like more fun than some of North/Duotone/Fanatic stock windfoil board offerings.
