Funny I thought the same thing when I saw the footage. I tried today but I was finding it challenging to loosen the death grip I had on the boom. Tomorrow for sure. Sorry last thing on my mind today was loop club. Could barely get out through the break let alone jump.

I assume you are at lowers and tried different places in this area. But just in case: I recall the bigger waves sometimes being very steep when out from the "common" launch area. It was like going down a cliff and I if that was risked and survived I more times than not ran from the white water. I eventually noticed that sometimes it was a much nicer wave just a little east out from the lifeguard station . Having said that, there were days when it was close out everywhere and simply over my low wave skill level.

Thanks Mike, I usually end up down around there, the first few days the waves were best down there but yesterday it didn't seem to matter where you were. That photo of the heavy lip I posted was right in the area where you are talking about where it's steep. I was just trying to get back to the beach and wasn't trying to ride a wave when I noticed the ocean seemed to drop away from under me and I realized I was right on top of the breaking section and just dropped straight down it. I looked over my shoulder when I landed and saw that massive barrel closing out. In the pic it looks far away but when I was out there it looked like it was going to land right on my head. Today should be more civilized, as Alton would say.

I'll just reiterate Chuck's very pertinent point here. "Only two kinds of windsurfers: those in loop club, and those on the waiting list." Get after it!

Today (Dec 6) looks like some logo high bombs rolling through (some clean and some closing out) with some lullage. Looks pretty sweet from here ~ hope the day is treating you and others well!

I agree. M, I think that there are a few of us back here who'd love to be having the challenges that you are facing there right now.... Enjoy, and I saw someone was posting that Sunday was going to be a big Jaws day there so maybe there will be some "clear the horizon" bombs coming through at Kanaha too.

Damn Dave, I think you may have captured a picture of Michael in the 4th pic. That might be him in the 3rd pic too, a bit small to be certain. Wow! Your photography skills never cease to impress me. As Michael said, yesterday was challenging and frustrating. Locals were saying that there was more east than usual making it so challenging to sail. 3.7 for me 3.4 for Heather. 3.1m swell forecast and 17 knots on Windguru. Mast clocking me in the side of the head and bashing me in the wrist was memorable highlight/lowlight of the day.

Today was way more civilized. Still lots of logo/mast high sets rolling through but the wind was steadier. It was super fun to have Chuck join us for the day despite him being on a kite . Michael and I had Matt Pritchard give an hour and half of coaching in the afternoon which was awesome. For me he preached patience, which resulted in me dropping in on what he said was a mast high set wave. I was so focused what I needed to do that I didn't pay attention to wave size. All I know is I got 3 hits off it and it felt great. Heather had a great day riding the reform waves on the inside and practicing jibes. Today was 2.1m swell and about the same 17 knots wind. 4.5 for me, 4.2 for Heather. Pic is of Matt and his two best students of the day and Daniel on the Naish photobombing us. Photo credit Heather.

Man, SO nice to be in warm water and decent waves!!!

Massive props to Michael for playing chauffeur/tour guide for the day and making such a great day possible.

Some really nice waves today, Michael, Johnny and Heather were all charging it, taking names and kicking ass. YVR crew party waves proved elusive but plenty of company on a crowded reef with everyone looking to smack that lip!

Great to hang with everyone incl Dan and Patrick, and super stoked to be back in Hawaii.
