White Rock report. Only a couple of other kiters so I guess it's up to me to report.

Funny forecasts and concerns about some SW in the wind lead me to White Rock. Had I seen the wind as it picked up at Centential I would have gone there (I left home well before that). Switched to 7M from 9M (launched then landed the 9M - that was NOT easy). Wind probably started 15-30+ then "steadied" to 20-30+. It's been a while since I kited 7M with that sort of water and wind state so took a while to feel more relaxed. The odd waves were as much as head high (I was facing into one close) but I found myself not taking advantage as I was managing the gusts (maybe overly nervous for the first hour). Having said this, definitely got some very fun rides on the way in (going with the wave) but did take a while to aclimatize to the conditions.

Went to BB. Found your kite Alton but not you ! Only 3 or 4 kites out and a few wind surfers. Nobody else showed up. By the time I walked to the public washroom and back, got changed ,and rigged up the wind shifted direction. Launched but wind didn’t feel too great and would have had a long hike to get to water so wimped out. (to make a change - not) Not having much luck down here. F*** winter. Okay, AUTUMN! Boo me.

My 9m was way too big so switched to 7m and left the 9m on the beach.

Epic waves!!!

I was on my way to join Mike at White Rock but when I saw the Boundary Bay sensor hit SSE 20 at 7:30 turned around and went up to 3rd Avenue.

James (8m+surfboard) and I (9m+surfboard) were the first kiters on the water with Michael windsurfing. I was survival kiting on 9m so switched to 7m with full depower. That's when Bill (8m+surfboard) joined in.

It was disorganized and gusty inside ... but cleaned up nice once we got outside in the full exposure of the south wind (S 26-30+). The waves/rollers were shoulder (maybe head) high with 50 ft silky smooth sections between. Got taken out several times by breaking waves but scored tons of sweet gybes and super long toeside wave rides.

So much fun sharing with waves with Bill and all the other windsurfers. I like most of the windsurfers couldn't resist the epic wave rides and ended up way downwind by Beach Grove ... well worth it !!!

It was odd to have the windsurfers (maybe 6+) outnumber the kiters (only 3 of us).

Everyone milked it to the last drop (3 hrs TOW). Bill and I didn't have enough wind to make it all the way back to the beach so we conveniently self-rescued by a sandbar and walked back in shallow glassy water.

What an excellent way to end the work week ... without work.

Yes!

Best part was the wind was South, even SSW at times and you could get some nice turns in on the waves. Down side was I couldn't tell how windy it was when I rigged and was way over powered on the 5.3, glad I took my small board in the end though.
