Too bad ships go so slow in Vancouver. Anyone ever seen a decent sized tanker wave around here?

I think that you might be in the news if riding waves from a Ferry. Isn't there some marine laws? And you know that you will be famous up here. Cops hunting down electric SUP board riders.

Awesome! Some guys were riding and jumping the ferry wake in close with jetskis, I think the authorities got called in. But if you were riding the wake away from the ship, I can't see what laws would be broken.

We've been humming and hawing about this for a while, in particular towing in with surf foils. But winging could make it work without needing a boat/jetski. The ideal location would be a narrows where big ships pass through close to shore at speed. Cruiseships in upper Georgia Strait maybe. Some big fast movers pass by pretty close to Victoria too. Out in Juan de Fuca, there are pretty far offshore, farther than I'd want to wing, but could do it with a boat/jetski. Endless waves, hmm.

An outbound tanker in the JDF would probably be pretty sweet. If the wake was big enough to get you upwind that is.
