I am looking at iWindsurf and it is showing NE.

Isn't the ideal wind to sail at bbay, SE? Can someone educate me on NE wind there and how it impacts? Colder? flatter?

Yes, colder and flatter. Side onshore from port instead of starboard. Still a safe direction that generally fills in to the beach, but small waves/chop due to the short fetch. Also, the wind temperature always seems to feel a bit colder than the actual air temperature, which is the opposite of the apparent temperature in SE winds.
Still can be fun if you dress for it. The overall conditions are more akin to Tswassen (in SW wind) than typical Centennial conditions.

Transit Strike averted! Howe Sound has been raging all night and The Pam Rocks sensor says it's gusting to 45knots and 7 degrees. AJ, maybe Francois is out at Furry Creek.

Got out at Furry Creek today on 3.15 m^2 sail and 74 L board. 3.15 was either too much for the gust (>40 knots) or too small for the lull (<15 knots). Joined by Ivan and later by Francois.

Got a long swim too after getting caught in that wind shadow near the shore, but thanks to my 7mm wetsuit + neoprene windbreaker jacket, I was comfortably warm.

James (8m+SB), Cash (12m+TT) and I (9m+SB) scored almost 2 hrs at 3rd Ave. Only NE 18 by the shore but once we got outside we were lit in NE 20-25 gusting 30. Choppy by the boat launch but clean waves outside of Centennial. Often overpowered on 9m.

Fun riding under sunny sky but I got colder (wind chill?) into the afternoon. I called it quits after I started losing feeling in my toes and blew 2 gybes.

I was a good sign to pack up when Cash and I couldn't understand each others slurred speech when we came in.

Good to hear you got out. Yes, that wind shadow can be a pain but once you sail there a few times you'll get a good feel on the timing. It sounds like the direction was a little side off today which happens in the Fall more than in the Winter.

5 degrees and 30knots is chilly, but enjoyed things for a couple hours.

Was perfect for me!! It was full on 3.7 by the time I got off the water.
Best Easterly I've ever sailed! I think there must have been more North in it than usual as it was easy to get out towards the mile marker but you got pinched coming back in. For about an hour I just sailed south of the boarder and almost sailed to the end of Lilly Point a few times. There was about 5 knots more wind out there and some really big breaking waves, best I've seen down there, like I was freaking out big. Sorry Dave, not sorry Johnny, you're on the plane to Maui so think of me in that warm blue water riding logo high sets!!! My last reach out there though there was a lull and it was a hard slog back. The big waves must have been creating a lot of current running south as at times it was hard to get planing on the way back. After that I stayed between 3rd and just past the boarder as there were nice waves around there too, wind really started to crank so I made my way back to Centennial and called it a day.
