Here's the schedule for arrivals/departures of freight vessels at the Squamish port.

I've never actually witnessed them coming and going. How does that affect sailing?

Depends on the side they dock, if they are on the Nexen side it's minor. If they are on the spit side it's a 20 minute interruption.

Also when the tugs push them in to the dock they kick up nasty amounts of silt and wash it over to the spit.
